Peta is fascinated by quantum light and illuminates its bizarre and paradoxical properties.
Her playful and illusory artworks offer experiences of entwined dualities, superposition, entanglements, interference patterns, indeterminate boundaries and the intrinsic interconnectedness of all things. They open up a visual language of possibilities for non-linear, non-dualist thinking.Diffraction grating unravels the radiant beauty hidden within white light, moiré, lenticulars and dichroic materials articulate the constant flux of quantum physicist David Bohm's holomovement (the process where the undivided wholeness underlying reality is in a perpetual process of flux and becoming). The ideas behind these works evolved from the art practice research of Peta's PhD, Making Quantum Questions Material: 'Soft' Textile Thinking for the 'Hard' Questions Arising from an Investigation of Light, awarded by the University of the Arts London and University for the Creative Arts in 2022.
