Pascal Chesneau
Biography
Wood is the source of Pascal Chesneau's desire to sculpt, a late vocation, after an atypical journey. His bestiary consisting mainly of wild animals and horses. Far from locking himself in with a single material and finding his work on wood too smooth, too round, he decides to approach other materials. A mixed technique (paper, wood, structured product, etc.) which allows him to produce more accomplished, more nervous, more aerial pieces. Since 2010, a new vision of his work, based on transparency, has forced him to change the material: it will be the welded formed sheet (car roof). Very involved for years in the protection of endangered species, this sculptor tries through his pieces to convey this message and to raise awareness on this subject. A sensitive and powerful work which has earned him numerous distinctions, including that of 'Wildlife artist of the year', as well as the silver medal for French artists.
