Through her sculptural language, Nathalie Gauglin highlights a quest for comfort in an often tumultuous world.
"The eyes. That's what catches the eye at first sight," art critic Ludovic Duhamel rightly points out. Two sooty mysteries, as deep as abysses of solitude. Two black holes that absorb the surrounding light, like two question marks." Nathalie Gauglin shapes sandstone to give birth to beings that seem to emerge from the very essence of humanity. Her sculptures reveal an uncommon force of expression. Each detail, each tilt of the head, each dark look, invites the viewer to delve into the intimacy of these fragile characters, lost in a world of solitude. Through her sculptural language, the artist highlights a quest for comfort in an often tumultuous world.
Nathalie Gauglin was born in 1962 in Versailles. Trained in evening classes at the Beaux-Arts in Versailles, then at the Boulle school in Paris, she lives and works in the Nantes region.
