This captivating work presents a surreal scene where dream and reality blend. At the center of the composition, an elegant and mysterious female figure rises, draped in textiles richly decorated with geometric patterns and shades of blue, which evoke both the sea and the sky. Her expressive face, marked by a sophisticated simplicity, immediately attracts attention and underlines an inner peace. The fluid movement of her arms and clothing creates an undulating dynamic that seems to orchestrate a light dance with the surrounding elements. Around her, graceful and delicate fish float in an ethereal environment, reinforcing the impression of buoyancy and lightness. The background, subtle and harmonious, consists of soft shades and circular patterns that recall aquatic whirlpools, adding dimensional depth. Pastel colors mixed with golden accents give a warm and welcoming glow to the entire work, evoking a sense of poetic calm. This remarkable canvas stands out for its unique style, combining elements of folklore with a contemporary vision. The artist manages to encapsulate a dreamlike universe while offering a reflection on tranquility and inner beauty.

Albena Vatcheva, La vie est belle
France  • 1967

Presentation

Of Bulgarian origin, Albena moved to Normandy, France, 24 years ago. An architect by training and speaking several languages, she immediately established herself in the artistic world by her unexpected style and the quality of her pictorial work. Self-taught, she demonstrates an extraordinary sensitivity, born of her love for poetry, by creating a fruitful, original work of rare elegance.

Albena is located at the crossroads of various cultural influences: Greece, Egypt, India, Africa, Japan…, regions of the world where the story passes abundantly through images. Without forgetting the impact that Art Nouveau had on her. The very particular style of this singular artist is the reflection of a sensual and spiritual sensibility, of which she herself explains the cultural sources: “With the brushes of my childhood, I draw on my memories and dreams of love. The subconscious memory follows in the footsteps of my people, who have always sought, during the years of difficult history, the joy of living and the roots in the orthodox and mystical traditions of our ancestors.

My work is constantly evolving towards an imagery-symbiosis of different cultures, legends, mythologies: Persia, India, Egypt, Japan, Thrace, Byzantium. With inspiration from stained glass, Art Nouveau, tales and fairies from my childhood, each painting is an "eternal shelter" for the best part of me - my dreams of youth - of this life and of past lives ".

What sets Albena's incredible painting apart is the oriental magic of her fabulous compositions, which communicate fascinating effects, served by unmistakable technical mastery and a fiery outpouring of vivid colors. In this disturbing gallery of figures, the feminine element explodes in the elegant forms of a refined eroticism. The talented Franco-Bulgarian artist brings to her contemporary painting an unexpected style, the richness of which quickly asserts itself in the world of Art.

Albena knew how to give to her remarkable talent an imaginative expression, which is marked by tenderness and a rare poetic grace. She herself defines its fundamental origins, “The act of painting becomes a magnificent meditation. A journey into spirituality, lost tenderness, love - the material that creates and unites. "
