French photographer Julie Peiffer, born in 1967, lives and works between Paris and Nancy.
Julie Peiffer is a self-taught artist who began her artistic career in 2020. After years of keen observation of society, she found in photography a powerful means to explore social issues that concern her, shedding light on inequalities, particularly those affecting women. She strives to capture the immateriality of feelings and make them visible through her art.
After working as an editor in magazine journalism in Paris, Julie Peiffer turned to photography following the 2015 attacks, driven by an urgent need to capture the city during those dark times.
Since then, Julie Peiffer’s work has delved into feminine identity, exploring the depths of this intimate and often unknown realm.
Her photographs harmoniously blend the language of the female body with light, revealing an underlying vitality and melancholy—core elements of human existence.
She constantly explores the materiality of the image, creating photographs that transcend mere visuals to become almost pictorial, offering a unique sensory experience.
In 2023, one of her works was included in the HERMÈS Foundation collection, and she joined the masterclass of photographer FLORE.
Her works are also present in private collections in France, Canada, Dubai, and Australia.
In 2024, one of her works will be part of the Artcurial sale for the Foch Foundation.
