Jean Laniau

Born in 1931 in La Rochelle, Jean Laniau is a French sculptor.

Jean Laniau studied at the Superior School of Fine Arts of Paris. A tireless draftsman, he started using since very early a technique that he abandoned soon afterwards. In his creative process, the artist always works with a model because it can talk and express its thoughts which influences directly the designs of the artist. Jean Laniau seeks to put on the same level the psychological and physical nature of the model, which plays a key role in his work.

Jean Laniau needs to do a preparatory work which allows him to think about the final appearance that he wants to give to his sculpture. Always with a smooth outcome, slick and flexible, Jean Laniau tries to reproduce the look and the feel of the model's skin.
